The Wheels on the Bus.....
Today was a blast from the past for me. Growing up my main mode of transportation if we wanted to go anywhere when my dad was working was the county transit bus. My mom did not drive until I was 19. I didn't get a car until after college. Even sometimes after I had a car it was just easier taking a bus to the nearby city.
I had not been on a county bus in about 11 years when my car broke down after I got married and my husband wasn't home from work yet to take me to the store I worked at.
Tim didn't have any "e time" left to bring me the car because being the great dad he is took what was left yesterday for Elijah's birthday. Even if he did, I would have had to take him back to work then go back and get him later. I thought I needed to go downtown anyway to go to the library, so I might as well catch the bus as it goes to where my husband worked.
It was SO nice! One of my friends was on her way to the library, so I was able to ride over with her. I spend nearly an hour leisurely walking around the library looking for DVD's, Playstation 2 games to play on our new Playstation machine and some books. Ahhh! I got to take a walk around town and sit down and look at the books.
I waited about a half hour for the bus. As I walked on the bus, the smell was very familiar. I think it may be the plastic seats. I looked up and saw the familiar rope to indicate stops. Then I actually did my old activity...write in a journal. That was so relaxing!!!
When we arrived at my husband's workplace, Tim was out front waiting for me. We then went into the nursing home (the smell there reminded me of the high school days when my youth group went to the nursing home) . Tim got me some beef and broccoli for lunch...yummy!
I might be taking the bus more often! It's a lot less stressful than dealing with the car!
