September Memories

September is a month of celebrating and remembering for our family.  It is full of birthdays and anniversaries in the Cone family.  The coming week is personally special for me.
15 years ago today-----my family and best friends arrived in town for our rehearsal/dinner.   I proved my lack of skill of giving directions.  My out of town wedding party got lost on the way to the church( except for one who came in the next day).  I remembered we even practiced crying during the candle song (Cherish the Treasure).

September 13, 1997----the day we married :)  The ceremony went smoothly except I forgot my bobby pins for my veil on Tim's couch the night before.  My veil kept falling off during my vows.   Our honeymoon got off to an interesting start.  In the process of moving, my diabetes medicine got misplaced and we didn't get to Niagara Falls until 11 PM.  The hotel owner rented out our room.   Thankfully a taxi driver knew of a new hotel that opened up.  That hotel honored the price we would have paid at the original hotel
My sense of direction proved awful again  a few days later when I was trying to find my friend Sherryl who was a close college friend and was in my wedding.   We managed to stay on course the rest of the week.
September 13, 2011-----a very sad day in our family.  A year ago my dear Mother in Law Mary and my sister in law Debbie's mom died.  I still miss Mom Cone very much.  I didn't know Pat as well, but her presence at family gatherings is greatly missed.
September 18, 1998---a year and 5 days after our wedding our wonderful son Elijah Michael was born via C section at 2:29 PM.   He was a whopping 10 lbs. 3 ozs!  He gave us a scare as his blood sugar plummeted after birth and he had to be in the NICU for 12 days.  Today he's a very athletic, smart, musical freshman in high school.   He's a great big brother to Gabrielle (who is in heaven), Nate and Anna.
September 21, 1921----my wonderful Grandma L. was born.   She's been gone almost 9 years.  I sure still miss her! Growing up living across the street from her and Grandpa,  I had the chance to make countless memories with both of them.  I was very blessed to have both of my grandparents until my 30's.

I continue to have graditude for all the blessings in my life.  I love September when I have an extra chance to rememember them.
