Friends are Friends Forever

On Labor Day we decided to take a last minute trip up to our State Fair, about 2 hours away.  On the route to get there, we had to go through Cortland NY, where I lived for 2 years.  Wonderful memories were made there while I attended SUNY Cortland.  A lot of those memories flooded back as I wandered around Walgreens (a new addition to town since I graduated in 1992.)
I kept myself busy with a lot of fun activities.   I was part of Cortland State TV (CSTV).  I was an anchor/reporter my first year and news producer/director the next.  I also was on the production crew on various other shows.   I helped my friend Janice lay out the school newspaper, Dragon Chronicle.  There were many sleepless nights doing that :).
I attended Faith Baptist Church, where my former youth pastor Allen Carpenter was pastoring.  Sadly, he and his wife have both died.  I sang in the choir while there.  That was fun!
I interned at WTVH TV (now part of CNY Central) in Syracuse for 2 semesters.  It was there that I met the new anchor of World News Tonight.  David Muir was still in high school when we met.  We didn't work together very much, but my favorite memory was one night I was practicing writing a story.  He looked it over and edited it for me.  He also helped me manuver the computer system.
I had the opportunity to write stories for the news later on in that semester and the semester after.  That was my favorite thing to do.  I hated to do police checks!!
I made some very very special friends during the 2 years at SUNY Cortland.  It's been 23 years since I graduated, but  I still do miss them A LOT!!!!!Most of them I have kept in touch with since then (thanks to Facebook and e mail).  I am so glad I had the opportunity to make such special memories!!!
