Church by Candlelight

Just as prayer meeting was going to start, the lights went out. They came right back on, but soon after they went out. It ended up being for 2 hours. A 35+ mph wind had come through the area and blew down some power lines.
The kids group was meeting upstairs. It ended up being a good thing. They would have had to try to find their way upstairs in the dark. That would have been more scary for them. Most of them were taken home. Tim came home with our 2 little ones. Elijah and I stayed behind.
It would have been easy for everyone to go home, but our speaker, Bruce, thought it would be appropriate to keep going. I didn't mind. I felt there was a reason we were there. When something like this happens, church is the best place to be (other than home with family) Bruce talked about grace. He had some great reminders about this special subject. I had just heard one of my favorite songs It's All Because of God's Amazing Grace (another of those tear jerking songs when I've sang it in church. I'll tell that story another time). God's grace is surely has been with me!
We just had a quick prayer time and we went home. Getting home was a like going through a maze. I had to go way out of the way to get around the road blocks. It was strange. One part of town had power, but when I got back to my side of town again, the main road was blocked off and power was out. I'm thankful it wasn't the case of downed trees or a car accident. Everyone is safe.
When the power came back on, I found this neat chat hosted by my online friend Lynnette. We all shared blog addresses, so for all of my new friends hello! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I'll try to keep this blog updated more often.

edited to add. I came across a beautiful rendition of All Because of God's Amazing Grace on You Tube this morning. The second verse gets me weepy everytime. I posted the video on a seperate entry. It comes from a Christian college/church in CA. They post a lot of neat music.

Through disappointments and dangers too
Through labors and sorrows we've come
But God's grace had guided safely through
And it will surely lead us home
