Missing Grandma

My favorite picture of my Grandma and me. I was about 17 or 18. I'm the one on the right side end. That's another memory. My grandma took me to Benza's barber shop in J.C. to get my brother and my hair cut. We always got B-B-B Bats candy(made by a local candy company)

15 years ago today (3/20/96) a big void was made in our family. My wonderful Grandma, Mary Anna Corwin, died of liver disease.
We spent many days with her at her farm house in the country. It was so peaceful there! She took us many places. My favorite place was CFJ Park in Johnson City to ride on the carousel. there's not much left of that park anymore, but the carousel was just refurbished. I'm planning on taking my kids there this summer to ride it.
We went to the mall, Mc Donalds, and to visit friends and family just to name a few activities. Grandma was part of all our family picnics and holidays. My favorite holiday tradition was when Grandma made her Cod Fish balls (deep fried dough with fish or sometimes she made some dough with raisins) and Christmas cookies.
In her later years, I helped Grandma get to dr. appointments. I really miss those times we had to spend together. She didn't live to see me get married or have my kids. I really wish she could have met Tim and my kids. Anna's name is based on hers. I really didn't mean it to be that way. I saw Anna means God is Gracious and I loved that meaning. We already had Marie picked out as a middle name. Then I realized that I had picked my Grandma's name in reverse. That made my Dad so happy....and me too.
So, as I celebrate this beautiful spring day, I stop to remember my dear Grandma who meant the world to me! Love you!

Thanks, Big Sis! I was blessed to have 26 years of wonderful memories with my Grandma. She was such an interesting lady! There was a lot more I could have written. The reference on my Facebook status to the spaghetti was that Grandma made the most delicious Spaghetti dinners with meatballs, sausage and broccule (thin steak stuffed with cheese). I never learned how to make that (my brother did!) I did learn how to make her homemade italian dressing. YUMMY!
What wonderful memories you have! It made me remember my own grandmother and all the good times we shared. Thanks!
