Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

Today is the actual day set aside to bring awareness to child loss.  In honor of that our local hospital is holding a candlelight ceremony tonight.  The organizer asked that those coming would bring a poem or something else to share.
That reminded me of the poem that I wrote after Gabrielle's death.  I sent it in to SHARE's newsletter. SHARE is a national pregnancy and infant loss group that helped me after my loss.  They are still going. Their website is www.nationalsharing.org  It was published in the November/December 2000 edition of the newsletter Sharing. I would like to share it here also.

I'll See Her In Heaven Someday
by Kimberley A. Cone

Our precious daughter was expected to die
I was shocked and saddened
I had cry upon cry
I don't know why it happened
Why God took her away
But I know I'll see her in heaven someday.

I had some questions
I was beginning to doubt
I had to remember God was working it out
I can't help wondering why God took her away
But I know I'll see my beautiful girl in heaven someday.

She had a problem
That was plain to see
It was hard to believe she was kicking in me
The time with her was so precious
I know now she's OK
Her body is perfect
I'll see it in heaven someday.

I know I'll see her in heaven someday
But here on earth it seems so far away
We let God have his way
I know I'll see Gabrielle again in heaven someday.

I forgot about this poem until last night.  I'm getting emotional reading it.  It does sum up my feelings and faith.  I really don't know why it happened.  I would like to think it was for times like this to be an encouragement and support to others.  It still does hurt though wondering what life would be like with a 15 year old girl in the house.  My son Nate asked me last night about that.

I know many of my friends have lost children in many different ways. There has been a lot of loss in my family also.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all!!  Not just today, but everyday.

A great poem. Yes, we too miss our granddaughter but we know we will see her in heaven. Love you and so glad that you are our daughter. Mom

I have a niece who only lived about 40 minutes on the night she was born. They didn't have sonograms then so it was unexpected and devastating. I know you know. You can't be prepared for such a tragedy. Her name is Joy Ruth, and we'll see her in heaven someday, too! We can't know the mind of God --His plans and workings-- but we can trust that He always knows best for He can see the whole story from beginning to end, and loves you and Gabrielle and Joy Ruth and my sister beyond measure! {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Still, that doesn't end the hurt...but set your eyes on eternity. This life is only a vapor in comparison! :)
