Rock vs. Bumper

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

On Friday afternoon I had a run in with a big rock driving out of a local store parking lot.  I had driven in and out of this lot many times in the 2 years it's been open.  It was actually the second day in a row I had been to this store....I had forgot cat food for our Lucy the day before.
It was my fault and no one else's. I allowed myself to be distracted by the kids and the other cars around me (I was focusing more on not backing into anything instead of clearing the way to get past the rocks.
I was devastated. I thought of my sweet husband!!!!!   We had decided to invest some of our tax return money in replacing our aging Ford Windstar a few days before with a 2005 Saturn Vue. Now I had an accident with the Equinox we bought last year just before it was due for inspection.  I broke the front bumper cover.  Good thing Tim had our Vue at work with him as we didn't put collision on it yet.  Tim made sure I did on my way home.
Thankfully he was very calm as I told him what happened.  I was so pleasantly surprised, especially since our first estimate was over $800.  The second opinion was about $500 less, so we went with that garage.
Through this literal bumper bender, I got to thinking about how sometimes in my life I have let myself drift toward destruction not paying attention to the dangers in front of me.  God's protection kept me from hitting some humongous boulders in life!!!! 
On a positive thought, I also thought about God being my Rock.  Our choir number this coming week is Hallelujah to the Rock by Ron and Shelly Hamilton.  Now running to the Rock...God is a wonderful thing!  When all else in life goes wrong, God is there to rely on. 
I'm thankful for His protection and his comfort in times of  trouble

I like how you combined a trial with a spiritual come back. Jesus is our Rock and it is good to run into him.

  I have been blessed to be able to visit Sperr Park a lot lately. Today it's an extra special blessing. A few months ago I discovered a swinging bench. Today I discovered that it's directly across the lake from the flag pole.  I'm singing the Star Spangled Banner in my head. Goodbye CBCA 4/21/26

 This morning, the pastor of my home church, Central Baptist in Binghamton NY, announced that Central Baptist Christian Academy is closing at the end of this school year.  I started CBCA as a Kindergarten student in 1975. On Sunday, when I saw one of my classmates, who is a pastor in the Cleveland OH area, preaching on Facebook I realized that I have known him for just over fifty years. I loved my nine years at CBCA.  I had amazing teachers and I made the most incredible friends. I loved being involved in music.  I had my first solo in first grade. "Jesus loves the little children the whole wide world around" I sang with laryngitis. I took piano and voice lessons starting in second grade. I sang in choirs. My classmates and I had so much fun! We sang in Christmas and spring programs.  We went on many fun field trips. Senior Citizen Day

 It's official!  I'm now a senior citizen.  I made my appearance in the world at 7 PM on January 11, 1970.  Now I am eligble for senior discounts.  Tim told me that includes Michaels. That will come in handy.  On Facebook, I've received greetings from people from all times of my life.  That's been fun to see. It's brought back so many fun memories.  Some from my schools, my churches, and extended family.   I've been such a blessed woman, that is for sure.  I still have my parents who still support me and show they love me.  I've been blessed with many friends and I continue to make more. I have an amazing husband and three wonderful kids.  My youngest, my daughter Anna, is planning on getting married next year.   I have a special church family who have taken Tim and I under their wings for almost a year now.  We have had so many opportuntities to serve at Christian Faith Fellowship.
