Adventures of Pickle Making
One of my favorite foods growing up other than my Grandma Corwin's homemade spaghetti dinners was another homemade specialty, canned dill cucumber pickles. Both of my grandmas and my mom made this yummy delight. When talking to my friend Julie about having some zucchini to use up, she suggested a recipe that she has used many times for pickled zucchini. She had shared a jar with me before so I was so happy when she let me copy her recipe to use. She also provided the jars and some ingredients to get started. She was even willing to help me make them, but the extreme heat and humidity we had the end of last week prevented that from happening. Pickling and canning are two of those skills I could kick myself for not letting my grandmas teach me when I was growing up, but with Julie's recipe, instruction and a little help from the internet, I accomplished the task.
