Cherish the Treasure

Image
Tim and I celebrated our 18th anniversary yesterday.  The past 18 years have been filled with many joys and some sorrows, but through it all I've been blessed to have a wonderful husband who has stuck with me. I looked up the song "Cherish The Treasure" this afternoon.  It's the song we had played during our candle lighting ceremony.  After the candle was lit, I remember very vividly standing looking at Tim while holding his hands. His eyes were filled with tears, which made me cry too. Listening to the words "This sacred vow I make to you does not contain an if.  Though I'm aware that trials lie ahead."  I never could imagine the trials we would have to go through, especially about 2 years into our marriage with the loss of our daughter Gabrielle Renee.  We've also had a lot of health challenges and just the normal couple/parenting issues. I'm so glad God sent me Tim.  He was a specific answer to prayer.  I had cried out to God to send me a...

All Because of Gods Amazing Grace video

Here is the video I promised. I'll take this opportunity to share the meaning of this song to me. The first time I sang this song in church, I had just found out I was pregnant with my oldest son (13 years ago...YIKES). I thought the word labor would make me giggle as I had not shared the news with my church family our news yet. I ended up bawling! I have a tendency of doing that as I have shared a few times on this blog. In that time, we had the ordeal of losing our baby girl. When I was expecting our last child, we bought a house back in the city we started out at. We returned to our old church. The Grace song came to the attention of our pastor. I said I had sung the song before, so I was asked to sing it again. Now the song had a more powerful meaning to me. I did get through it that ...

In the Face of Tragedy

I shared these thoughts with my MOPS friends in the newsletter"The Announcer". It sums up my feelings of the tragic shooting in Binghamton NY, near my hometown and all the other violence and unrest in the world today. The shooting really shook me up. My mom drove past the Civic Center less than 24 hours before the shooting. I walked around the area countless times throughout my life. The teacher killed was the wife of one of my former doctors (a ear/nose throat specialist). My thoughts and prayers are with the victims families, the surviors, the emergency personnel who responded and the whole community. What a shock! Adventures in Mothering Because He Lives "How sweet to hold a newborn baby and feel the pride and joy he gives, but greater still this calm assurance this child can face uncertain days….Because He Lives" Bill and Gloria Gaither Copyright 1971. As I sang that song on Sunday in church, those words brought tears to my eyes. I chose the song in ...
