Finding Treasures

Anna was cleaning under her bed this morning.  She kept on bringing me little mementoes that somehow got under there.  They must have got lost when I was cleaning some crates in her closet. First of all, there was a birthday card my mom made for Anna.   The year was not on it, but there was a hand written message on it by Mom. Second of all, there was a letter from Elijah's elementary school from ten years ago almost to the day inviting us to his Broadway Best Award ceremony.  He was in third grade. It was his most challenging year at the school, so this was a big accomplishment. Lastly, there was a sweet note by my dear friend Jean Ackerly.  She was our church pianist (along with her husband who played the organ and was our choir director) for many years.  We got to know each other on Wednesday nights praying with each other at prayer meeting.  After she moved to Pennsylvania we kept in touch.  In this particular letter, she had just turned 90...

Still Inspiring Me!!!!

During our ladies Bible study at church on Thursday night, my pastor's wife, Debbie, asked us who we thought of when we heard the word faithful.  She used a couple of couples in our church who have been married for about fifty years as her examples. The couple I thought of was my dear parents who will be married for fifty years in August.  I have written about them before, but I saw that faithfulness in action this past weekend more than ever. My mom ended up in the hospital due to chest pains.  Although the main thought was that her discomfort was due to acid reflux, her heart was checked out.  A chemical stress test and echocardiogram showed abnormalities, so she was scheduled for a catheterization.  Sadly, it could not be done until Monday afternoon. In the meantime, it was discovered that my mom was not getting her anxiety and other related medicines.  That put her into ultra anxious/panic mode.  With the medicine she is usually very calm and ea...

Even So Lord Jesus Come

Recently our internet connection became very irractic. We would nicely get hooked up then the connection would fade. Then at other times it would work for hours.  That happened the night before a Verizon technician was supposed to come to our house.  Less than an hour later, in the middle of Elijah's school project, it quit again.  There was a couple of days that it worked.  We thought it was fixed!   Then a few hours after I originally wrote this piece, it went out again!!! It's been a very frustrating process!!! It got me to thinking that there is a one glorious thing we are waiting for....that is the Lord's return.    In the meantime, the  bad times will come over and over again.  Our family is going through a very tough time right now.  However,  I am confident that someday our problems will be over.  I cannot wait!!! Even so, Lord Jesus Come Thought of the day: Revelation 22:10  He which testifieth these things s...

Where I've Been

I know I've been quiet the past few months. There is a good reason for that. In October, I started attending a local writers group at my library. I read a blog entry for the group.  They absolutely loved it and suggested that I write a book based on my blog. I printed out all 105 entries and separated them into many categories.  I've finished editing 2 almost 3 sections.  I am still debating how I'm going to organize the book.  I'll keep you all updated on the progress. I've had so much support in writing this blog the past 7 1/2 years. I appreciate it very much. I'm excited what the future will bring.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

Today is the actual day set aside to bring awareness to child loss.  In honor of that our local hospital is holding a candlelight ceremony tonight.  The organizer asked that those coming would bring a poem or something else to share. That reminded me of the poem that I wrote after Gabrielle's death.  I sent it in to SHARE's newsletter. SHARE is a national pregnancy and infant loss group that helped me after my loss.  They are still going. Their website is www.nationalsharing.org  It was published in the November/December 2000 edition of the newsletter Sharing. I would like to share it here also. I'll See Her In Heaven Someday by Kimberley A. Cone Our precious daughter was expected to die I was shocked and saddened I had cry upon cry I don't know why it happened Why God took her away But I know I'll see her in heaven someday. I had some questions I was beginning to doubt I had to remember God was working it out I can't help wondering why God took ...

Unique Opportunity

http://www.mytwintiers.com/news/local-news/candle-lighting-ceremony-to-remember-infant-loss   link to the news story I was featured in  I was scrolling down my Facebook page and chatting with my friend Tanya yesterday morning when a PM from my TV News Photographer friend John showed up on my screen.  John and I worked together at WETM TV 19 years ago.  I left after 9 months as an audio/chyron operator.  John still works there. Earlier in the morning, I had posted a Pregnancy and Infant Loss picture created by my friend Amy. It pictured a candle and said in loving memory of Gabrielle Renee.  John must have seen that and asked me if I'd be willing to meet with reporter Andrew Banas about our experience with losing Gabrielle.  My husband gave me the go ahead to do it. I met Andrew at the hospital where Gabrielle was born nearly 16 years ago.  He was also interviewing the Unit Nurse for the NICU.  Her name was Kimberlee (neat that we share a...

Day of Reflection

Fall is my favorite season.  I love the cool air, the colorful leaves and the crunch of the dried leaves on the ground.  My allergies don't like that part though. On Wednesday, as I was sitting at my daughter's softball game.  I was staring at the puffy white clouds.  As the game went on the clouds turned darker as the sun set.  It was so beautiful! This afternoon, Tim and I were honored to be part of the Senior Day ceremony that included our son Elijah. After the ceremony, I told Eljiah I am so proud of him.  He's a talented musician, athlete and student.  He's in the process of finding a college that will help him become a doctor someday.  I was emotional because this is Elijah's last regular season home game to play. After a yummy supper prepared by Tim, Tim and I went for a walk to our favorite park, Miller Pond, about a mile from our house.  I took in the sights and sensations of a cool fall evening.  The pond was beautiful with ...
