We are on the verge of a big celebration at our house.  My youngest child, Anna Marie, will be 12 years old this Friday, November 18. I call her my miracle baby...although now she is a step closer to becoming a teenager....YIKES!!!  Within moments of her birth she was rushed to the NICU due to oxygen/blood issues that was resolved within hours. The next day however, after a routine chest x ray, her heart was found to be very enlarged.  A local pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Thomas Finnerty, was called in and she has been under his wonderful care since.   It took about a month for her heart to calm down enough to get the full diagnosis, Mitral Valve Stenosis, and another year or so with help from pediatric cardiologists in Syracuse NY to determine it was a mild case. I am excited to be part of the Celebrate Lit tour team.  The book I am honored to review today is The Bedwarmer's Son by Caryl McAdoo. The book was provided to me for free for an honest review, which I am glad to do! I enjoyed this historical novel very much as I have Caryl's other books.  With this book, I really found the dual storylines of 1928 and back to the 1850-60's  to be very interesting.  The love story between slave (to become ex slave) Jasmine and her owner "Mister William" Sinclair to be very charming! I strongly recommend this book to anyone.  It is very well written.  I loved it! Anna was cleaning under her bed this morning.  She kept on bringing me little mementoes that somehow got under there.  They must have got lost when I was cleaning some crates in her closet. First of all, there was a birthday card my mom made for Anna.   The year was not on it, but there was a hand written message on it by Mom. Second of all, there was a letter from Elijah's elementary school from ten years ago almost to the day inviting us to his Broadway Best Award ceremony.  He was in third grade. It was his most challenging year at the school, so this was a big accomplishment. Lastly, there was a sweet note by my dear friend Jean Ackerly.  She was our church pianist (along with her husband who played the organ and was our choir director) for many years.  We got to know each other on Wednesday nights praying with each other at prayer meeting.  After she moved to Pennsylvania we kept in touch.  In this particular letter, she had just turned 90...

During our ladies Bible study at church on Thursday night, my pastor's wife, Debbie, asked us who we thought of when we heard the word faithful.  She used a couple of couples in our church who have been married for about fifty years as her examples. The couple I thought of was my dear parents who will be married for fifty years in August.  I have written about them before, but I saw that faithfulness in action this past weekend more than ever. My mom ended up in the hospital due to chest pains.  Although the main thought was that her discomfort was due to acid reflux, her heart was checked out.  A chemical stress test and echocardiogram showed abnormalities, so she was scheduled for a catheterization.  Sadly, it could not be done until Monday afternoon. In the meantime, it was discovered that my mom was not getting her anxiety and other related medicines.  That put her into ultra anxious/panic mode.  With the medicine she is usually very calm and ea...

Recently our internet connection became very irractic. We would nicely get hooked up then the connection would fade. Then at other times it would work for hours.  That happened the night before a Verizon technician was supposed to come to our house.  Less than an hour later, in the middle of Elijah's school project, it quit again.  There was a couple of days that it worked.  We thought it was fixed!   Then a few hours after I originally wrote this piece, it went out again!!! It's been a very frustrating process!!! It got me to thinking that there is a one glorious thing we are waiting for....that is the Lord's return.    In the meantime, the  bad times will come over and over again.  Our family is going through a very tough time right now.  However,  I am confident that someday our problems will be over.  I cannot wait!!! I know I've been quiet the past few months. There is a good reason for that. In October, I started attending a local writers group at my library. I read a blog entry for the group.  They absolutely loved it and suggested that I write a book based on my blog. I printed out all 105 entries and separated them into many categories.  I've finished editing 2 almost 3 sections.  I am still debating how I'm going to organize the book.  I'll keep you all updated on the progress. I've had so much support in writing this blog the past 7 1/2 years. I appreciate it very much. I'm excited what the future will bring.
